Patarei Prison

Patarei Prison sits coldly on the Baltic Sea. A former sea fortress with curved walls and endless corridors. I only reached the points where the light and heat faded too much to continue. On the other side of one of the prison doors is the museum - but I was granted permission to explore on the more authentic side. Surprisingly colorful & full of artwork - there is a fascinating beauty within the prison walls. But there still lingers a dark tone to this place, including a chilling operation theatre. Life could not have been enjoyable here regardless of the seaside location. In this rising part of Tallinn, one day soon this building will be renovated into something very special.
