The Soldier's Castle

This impressive barracks is the castle-like building sitting in the middle of the village with its incredible tower looming at the front. This was a really interesting and at times scary adventure - especially with the fact that it was so remote. Before I had even taken my camera out, I encountered a woman in one of the rooms, lying on a mattress & it was pretty clear she was working there!

The building is made up of four wings & is totally overgrown with trees in the middle. I had to tackle this forest in order to get to the saloon at the other end - the only wing that was no longer easily connected to the rest. A crazy adventure in a very run down location but full of stunning architecture.
