Hotel Tbilisi

Hotel Tbilisi is the most central of all the semi-abandoned structures in the town & is definitely one of the liveliest with a lot of residents living across the two winged building. As we stood outside, a woman summoned us from a window to come to the second floor. There we shared home-made brandy, coffee & an understanding of each other rather than a conversation. It was very moving to be invited into someones home & it actually happened twice here.

We were also invited to take photos on the roof, which was spectacular. The courtyard of the hotel has the remnants of a beautiful garden, next to impressive foyer with its many columns. This building provided beautiful photo opportunities but also a very humbling and memorable time inside.
