Hotel Sakartvelo

Hotel Sakartvelo is a very different style to the other buildings we visited. Rather than a classical style, the building is Brutalist style where the different levels stack up on top of each other disappearing into the hillside the higher it goes. At the back of the hotel is an indication of its former glories - the remains of a luxury swimming pool and the zigzagging stairs that once led down to it. Two parts of the building are joined by a dipping walkway, which I was a big fan of.

It is also the building with a contrasting atmosphere. We first went there at dusk and it did not feel particularly welcome. A day or two later and after a chat with some locals & the place changed. The views from the back of the hotel are spectacular but also this is the part of the building that feels the most run down sadly.
