Grand Spa Hotel (Hotel Area)

The Grand Hotel was completed in 1842 & had been a family run business until 1980. Twenty years after they sold it, the hotel would fall derelict. The architecture is intricately detailed & I loved the ironwork on the railings. There are over 200 rooms, some no longer safely reachable. From the roadside level it appears the hotel is three stories high - on the ground level is the majestic ballroom. But at the back of the hotel, the number of levels doubles as the building continues steeply down the side of the hill into the valley.

Being alone in a vast hotel can be a bit overwhelming & play tricks on the mind - but that's part of the joy when choosing Urbex photography. There is nothing quite like it.
